APC Suffers Huge Setback As Former Party Chairman, 150 Members Defect to PDP in Abuja ShakarasquareMay 26, 2021Read original Godwin Poyi, a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kuje council area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Vanguard newspaper, citing the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reported that the politician led over 150 members to the PDP on Monday, May 24. The defectors reportedly handed over their APC membership cards, brooms, and posters in replacement for the umbrella of the PDP. According to them, they decided to join the PDP because they were dissatisfied with the approach of APC policies in their area. Godwin Poyi said: “We decided to join the PDP to contribute to the development of Kuje Area Council and the country as a whole. “Our stay in APC has not been encouraging. BREAKING: Suicide bomber explodes in Ebonyi A suicide bomber was on Tuesday blown to pieces when a suicide vest he was wearing exploded on his body. The incident happened in Afikpo town, Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi state. A source in the area said the incident happened around 12noon. “He made an attempt at entering Amaizu/ Amangballa Primary School but was turned back by the school security since he couldn’t justify his reason for visiting. He immediately started running inside a nearby bush before a big bang was heard,” the source said. The source also said residents scampered for safety when the bomb exploded but reconvened at the scene of the incident few minutes after only to discover the suspected suicide bomber laying dead in the pull of his own blood. EXCLUSIVE: Intercepted intel reveals how Shekau died DailyNigerianMay 20, 2021 Intelligence intercepted by a Nigerian security agency has revealed how the longest-reigning leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, died in a battle with rival ISWAP in Sambisa forest. Speculations about Mr Shekau’s death were rife since Wednesday evening, but multiple inside sources and intels gathered by a Nigerian security agency apparently confirmed the death. The intel, sighted by DAILY NIGERIAN, revealed conversations between top fighters of the group who witnessed the death of the dreaded terrorist leader. According to the intel transcript sighted by DAILY NIGERIAN, ISWAP top commander Baana Duguri informed ISWAP logistics commander Modu Sulum that they killed Mr Shekau. Giving the details of the incident, Mr Duguri disclosed that fierce gunbattle ensued when the ISWAP fighters surrounded Mr Shekau and his team. Mr Duguri revealed further that Mr Shekau detonated a bomb and killed himself when he observed that the ISWAP fighters wanted to capture him alive. According to the intel, Mr Duguri informed Mr Sulum that the two sides also lost some fighters during the shooting. More than 40,000 people have been killed and over two million displaced from their homes by the conflict in northeast Nigeria, and fighting has spread to parts of neighbouring Chad, Cameroon and Niger. Boko Haram and ISWAP have fought battles for control of territory in the past. ISWAP has emerged as the stronger force, carrying out complex attacks on the military and overrunning army bases. Shekau took over Boko Haram, formally known as the Jama’tu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, after its founder Muhammad Yusuf was killed by police in 2009. Under Shekau’s leadership, Boko Haram turned large swathes of the northeast into a no-go territory, proclaiming a “caliphate” in the Borno town of Gwoza in 2014.
