It is is the second most spoken indigenous language in Africa after Arabic. 3. It belongs to the Chadic branch of the Afro-asiatic language family. 4. It is spoken by over 150 million people worldwide. 5. Apart from being native to Nigeria and Niger, It also has a sizable indigenous population in many African countries, including: Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Chad, Sudan, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Togo, Ghana, Eritrea, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Senegal and The Gambia. 6.
